Extra $200 for beating the course record – Male is 14:56 and Female 17:37!

The Cindy Schramm scholarship has been created from some of the proceeds of the race. Anyone ages 15 to 21 that registers and completes the race will automatically be put in for a drawing for $500 payable to the college of their choice. Winners will be contacted after the race. In 2022, 5 scholarships were awarded. All you need to do is register and start and finish. All times will be accepted into the raffle.

The certified 5k course is USATF measured and approved. Course Certification number is IL11120JW.

The Race strongly prohibited pets, bicycles, in-line skates, other wheeled vehicles.

Strollers or wagons are allowed but will need to line up behind the runners at the starting line.

Race day registration is available for individuals only. The family and team rates end the day before.

Parking is available at the Park District Clauss center, Lake Park west campus lot and the remote Lake Park west lot.

Lake Park’s foyer will be open and available if the weather is cold. Announcement will be made at 7:45 that race is about to begin.

The race will go unless the Police decide the weather is bad. Rain and snow will not cancel the race. If lighting is present, the race will be delayed and everyone will be asked to wait inside of Lake Park.

The race is chipped time. The chip is on the back of the bib. The bib can not be covered when you pass over the start or the finish line. Please wear the bib on the outside of your clothing for the race. Do not bend the chip, this can cause it to not register. For 2023, the race will start with air horn, and your time will start when you pass the starting line, there is a sensor that will start your time. If you are a competitive runner, make sure you line up in the front. Overall winners will be awarded on the first two to pass over the finish line (gun time) while all age group winners will be awarded based on chipped time.
The timing company is responsible for accuracy of the results.

The route will be closed for the duration of the race, however since there are homes along the route, there is the possibility of cars coming out of these homes, all runners need to be aware of their surroundings.

The course will remain closed until the last person has finished walking

Music, food and drink will be at the finish line for 2023 Xtra Mile Running store will be serving Hot Chocolate!

Gear check is unavailable for 2023.

Volunteers are needed for early packet pickup, setting up on race day, registration and cleaning up. If available to help out, please email name and availability using email address on bottom of this page.

The race starts on Bryn Mawr between the high school and park district on the street. Travels west on Bryn Mawr into Waterbury subdivision and back around.

The 5k Race

The certified 5k course is USATF measured and approved. An oblong loop, it starts on Bryn Mawr Road between the Roselle Park District Clauss Center and Lake Park High School West Campus. It is reasonable flat and a fast course. The course has a wide start and a long straight starting line along Bryn Mawr road. It continues through the Waterbury subdivision and winds back to end in the North end of the Lake Park West Campus parking lot.  The entire race is on asphalt closed streets of Roselle. The course is clearly marked with signs . Each mile marker is marked.

Awards

Top male and female overall will win a trophy. Medals for top 1st, 2nd and 3rd  place finishers in the following age brackets:
Age groups : 1-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 +
Runners will be able to get their time and place at the end of the race at the results booth from the timer. There will be a staffed table next to the results to  verify and hand out medals. There is no awards ceremony. Please make sure that your age is correct prior to the race. All results are final.

 

 

Packet Pickup

Early packet pickup will be at Xtra mile running store in Schaumburg. located at 31 West Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg
Old Town Center at the corner of Schaumburg and Roselle Roads. look for the big sign that says “Running Shoes”

Starting on Saturday November 18 from 11 to 2. Sunday from 12 to 2.

Race Day pickup is also available starting at 6 AM
